Manchester is one of the largest single-site universities in the UK, formed from the 2004 merger of Victoria University of Manchester and UMIST. Its Oxford Road campus runs almost continuously into the city centre.
It is a first choice for many Pakistani applicants, partly for the breadth of courses and partly because Manchester has the largest Pakistani community of any UK city, with established mosques, halal food and family networks.
