ANU was created by an act of federal parliament and sits in Acton, walking distance from the national institutions in Canberra. Research is its defining characteristic across sciences, policy and Asian studies.
Canberra is small and government-dominated, which means a quieter student city but a narrower part-time job market than Sydney or Melbourne.
